Kaye is a Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon (HPB Surgeon) in Melbourne, specialising in the treatment of gallbladder, liver and pancreatic disease as well as laparoscopic procedures for hernias and other general surgical conditions. She has a special interest in surgery for pancreatic cancer as well as advanced laparoscopic surgery to treat liver tumours.
Kaye graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 1999 and completed her surgical training at The Alfred Hospital. After obtaining her General Surgical Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007, Kaye undertook post fellowship Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgical Training with the Liver Transplant and HPB Surgical Unit at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne and The London Hospital HPB Unit in the United Kingdom.
Kaye has attended training courses in advanced laparoscopic liver and pancreatic surgery at the internationally renowned IRCAD institute in Strasbourg France, and spent a sabbatical developing her expertise in laparoscopic liver surgery. She has over 10 years experience as a consultant HPB Surgeon in Melbourne.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of leaders in their fields, Kaye performs surgery at both Cabrini Hospital and the Alfred Hospital. Understanding that performing surgery is only part of the care patients require, Kaye strives to meet the individual needs of every patient, putting them at the very forefront and supporting them through their care journey.
Kaye serves on the executive board of the Australian and New Zealand Hepatopancreatobiliary Association, is a member of the training committee, and an examiner for the HPB surgical fellowship program. She is a strong advocate for the support and career development of women in the field of HPB Surgery.
Kaye is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Monash University Department of Surgery. She has previously held the position of specialty editor for the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery and is a reviewer for several international HPB surgical journals.
In addition to her clinical work, Kaye has an interest in Healthcare Management with a dedication to ensuring the provision of high quality and sustainable healthcare. She holds a certificate in Quality and Safety through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and has completed a MBA and Master of Healthcare Management. She is the Deputy Chair of Senior Medical Staff and past Chair of the Upper GI and HPB Surgical Specialty Group at Cabrini Hospital.
